What we do:
Riddance covers AI and media literacy, the impact of AI media, and how to figure out what’s real on the Internet. We cover these topics through:
Investigations on AI-generated content and networks that create it. We take an open-source intelligence approach, hoping to inspire similar approaches in people’s everyday lives.
Media literacy toolkits, from AI video spotting tips to guides on how to figure out what’s real on social media. We try to make this accessible to almost any age group and inspire educators.
Reviews and updates on new releases in the AI media industry, focusing on visually benchmarking models and understanding what their strengths and weaknesses are
Opinion and philosophy pieces to guide the discussion on the ethics of AI video and how it shapes, and is shaped by, our internet-obsessed culture.

Jeremy Carrasco is an AI media expert and media literacy educator. He began creating videos under the name ShowtoolsAI in June of 2025 and quickly gained a following for his AI video spotting tips and commentary. An AI industry outsider, his career background was in live-streaming media production, as a former Head of Production at LiveX and exited co-founder of Accessible AV. With a degree in Sound Recording Technology from DePaul University and a long freelance and technical career in video and audio engineering, his skills found a new use in the quickly-growing AI media space.
Mason Broxham is an AI threat analyst with a background in philosophy and linguistics. While pursuing a PhD in Logic, Computation & Methodology at Carnegie Mellon University he developed an interest in studying online information environments and learning what contributed to their health and degradation. He left his program after several years and began to work at Microsoft where he applied these interests to the emerging field of generative AI. In the summer of 2025, Mason left Microsoft and started talking with Jeremy about the dynamic nature of generative AI video as an understudied field in AI safety. In his free time Mason enjoys writing music and being outside.
